How to get more readers for your articles

On top of having a website, it is important to have also a blog section. An extraordinary way for people to discover your articles is posting them on Social Media since millions of people are active every day.

With your WordPress blog, you can add a social share plugin that will allow people when they read your articles, to share them on their own social networks with their audience.  Imagine the huge potential and visibility increase! This way you will always have the possibility to get more readers for your articles.

People who have one extension like this installed will see their articles propagating faster that those who do not have it. The reality is that we are living in a fast pace world where we can find tons of information.   I regularly explain to my clients the importance of keeping their social networks posts short, also to write articles with an average 400 words because if it is too long to read, people won’t take the time.  Yes people will leave comments under your articles but a lot more will want to just click on one social media icon and share them. It is faster for them and so fantastic for you!

There is lot of social share plugins available, here are two that I like a lot:

Digg Digg

This extension allows every WordPress bloggers to have on their blog a floating bar on the side of the article, like the one you see on the left side of this article.

You can install several networks like Facebook, Google Plus, LinkedIn, Twitter, Pinterest, Stumble Upon, and more.

With this extension, you are sure that no matter where people are in the reading of your article, they can share it at any time.

This extension is fixed and you can install it at the bottom or top of your article. It can even be a complement to “Digg Digg”

It contains many options. Besides being able to install a share on Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Google Plus, Pinterest, Stumble Upon and many others, you also have an icon for people to share your article by email.

There are other excellent extensions available and you can search for them in your WordPress dashboard.

What is very important is to have at least one installed. People who will not take the time to leave comments will certainly take time to share your article. More you increase your visibility, more traffic you will have and better chances you will have to sell your products and services.

  1. I don’t have this on my blog, but I would like to. Is there a place I can visit to pick up the instructions to get this? And is this for my wordpress blog or my godaddy website (in my case 2 different things) or both?

  2. Great article, Carele. Yes, I’m using the same plugin but I do change once in a while…when I see something I like better. It’s good to be kept up-to-date. Thanks for sharing this info.

  3. I like the idea of using that floater side share button and am going to look into adding that on my new blog.

  4. We have those share widgets, but traffic has not picked up to the blog as we want.. Ill look into the shareaholic plug in and see if that helps.

  5. Digg digg is awesome!! This is what we use on our site and I have to agree that it really helps top increase and encourage shares.

  6. Perfect timing as I am in process of rebranding so that my website and blog are combined. Will discuss with my developer.

  7. I am using AA’s Digg Digg Alternative – says this: “Floating social bar for those that don’t want to use the content heavy and slow Digg Digg bar. This bar only has the code required to create the floating bar with sharing to increase page speed and less code.” It works well for me…!
