Carèle: Is your company present on some Social Networks?
Denny: Yes
Carèle: On which ones?
Denny: Awakened Parenting is currently on Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, Google+ and LinkedIn
Carèle: What do you like the most about Social Media?
Denny: Social media provides me with the opportunity to reach more parents on a global scale. Last I checked Awakened Parenting has readers in over 24 countries! That would never be possible without social media.
Carèle: What is your favorite Social Network?
Denny: My favorite social media platform is Facebook.
Carèle: Why?
Denny: I love the in-depth interaction and involvement that is possible on face book. Just last week I was contacted by a mom in Australia seeking help with her 4 year old’s refusal to go to bed at night. Her plea came via a message on face book! How incredible is that to think I have been able to help a parent across the world?
Carèle: What is your vision about your social network presence in 5 years from now?
Denny: My vision is to expand and grow my presence to reach as many parents as possible.
Carèle: Why?
Denny: I am truly passionate about helping parents make a shift in how they see their role in their children’s lives. There is no doubt that much needs to be addressed to improve our world and I believe it will begin with changing the mindset of parents thus changing the mindset of our future leaders. After over 25 years working with parents I have seldom met the parent who once they have a clear understanding of the impact they have in their children’s lives does not have a breakthrough moment. This only happens through sharing insights and offering skills and tools…and for this a connection must be made.
Carèle: What is the word success means to you?
Denny: Success for me is when I hear from parents whom I have helped that their child is now making positive choices, their relationship with their teen is back on track or that there is a new found joy in their family again…my success comes in the little moments that make big changes in the lives of children.
Carèle: What is the name of your business?
Denny: Awakened Parenting
Carèle: Can you describe in which industry your business is with the services and products you offer?
Denny: Awakened Parenting is a company dedicated to helping parents remove parenting paradigms of the past, which I refer to as ‘past-down’ parenting, and replace them with a healthy ‘Parenting Mindset’ that serves to empower children with a sense of personal responsibility for what happens in their lives through their innate power to choose. To help parents achieve a healthy ‘Parenting Mindset’ and then pass on these skills and tools to their children Awakened Parenting offers 4 eBooks, ‘The Missing Secret to Parenting’. ‘Mini-Me Syndrome’, ‘C.P.R. for Parents & Teens: The Conflict Prevention/Resolution Formula’ and ‘Real Parents, Real Questions, Real Answers’. In addition Awakened Parenting publishes a weekly newsletter containing tips, tools and special offers to its readers.
Carele: Why did you decide to start this kind of business?
Denny: Like all children I grew up thinking everyone’s life was just like mine. When I reached my teen years I realized how different my parents and my upbringing was from that of my friends. I immediately recognized how blessed I was and at the same time how different that made me. I saw myself, my life, and the world around me from a completely different perspective than those around me. This fascinated me.
As I grew older I decided to study psychology to help me understand why people made the choices they did. I soon came to understand the power parents held in their children’s lives and how that power would impact them for the rest of their lives. I knew then the full impact of the choices my parents made on my behalf.
Sharing a combination of what I learned through my formal education in psychology and what my parents passed on to me became the driving force in my life. Over 30 years ago my life’s goal became to influence and inspire parents to raise their children in a way that they too would have a love for themselves, for life and for the world around them… just like my parents gave me.

What a great interview with Denny. I have known her from social media for almost 2 years and she is the real deal. My parenting days are pretty well over since I am a grandparent now but I appreciate all the wisdom Denny shares. I learned even more by reading your questions and Denny’s answers. Of course as a grandparent, there are times when parenting skills need to be applied. Thanks for sharing the interview.

Love the idea of offering an ‘inside peek’ at the person behind the profile we see on social media. I think it’s a win-win for the visitor, the person being interviewed and the one who does the interviewing. Thanks Carele!
