Facebook personal profile versus business page

When you decide to join Facebook and you have a business, it is important to know the difference between a personal and a business profile. Moreover, according to Facebook’s  rules, it is forbidden to publish his business on his personal profile.

However I  regularly see people talking about their business on their personal profile and of course to sell their products and services. This is so sad. Facebook has millions of users every day then why not take advantage of it, especially since it’s free?

Your personal profile is there to talk about yourself, your interests, your passions, your activities, your good and bad moves. Yes, from time to time, you can share what you have posted on your business page since this is part of your life. On the other hand do not do it every day!  People wants to know more about, then your personal profile is there for that, but just make sure you don’t go to much in your private life also.

Your business profile is there to talk about your business, to give tips, inform, guide and get to know people that follow you.

Then it is important to make the difference between the two. And please, avoid posting the same thing at the same time on your business page and your personal profile. People will see it on their news feed and I must admit it doesn’t look really professional. Once in a while, for a special news, yes do it. Now, to do it each time you publish a new post is not very appropriated.

Have fun with your personal profile and develop trust with your business page, you will see amazing results.

To your success,

  1. Thanks, Carele for a great post. I use my personal profile as my hub and get people to my other social networks, as between my friends and subscribers I am blessed to have over 8,000. I will have to be mindful of business things that I post on there from time to time 😉

  2. Thank you Carele. I must confess that, I have been sharing things on my personal profile because once upon a time, I set up other accounts to communicate with eachother but, I will keep your advise in mind.

  3. Great post Carele! I love the separation between personal profile and business page. There are times when I just want to have fun on Facebook and having them separated works well.
